As the time trial in Caen approaches during the 5th stage of the Tour de France on Wednesday, July 9, all eyes will be on the stars of the peloton. But behind the scenes, another race is being played out: that of the mechanics, whose task is colossal.

While the spotlight is on the riders, and cameras scrutinize the favorites' every move, there are those we never see. Those who, in the shadows, play a vital role in a team's success: the mechanics. And if there's one morning when their nerves are put to the test, it's the one before a time trial stage.
